Jupiter, Venus and a crescent moon ~ which looks full in this image! ~
slanting westwards in a diagonal line.
Venus, evening star, goddess of love and beauty,
mistress of Friday, Springtime and flowers,
chased by her father Jupiter,
tries to reach Diana, that
powerful and protective goddess,
and by Sunday night she will be hiding behind
the skirts of this huntress....
protectress of women.
Tomorrow night though...look out for Venus and the Moon being so close to each other as to appear to be almost touching.
Hoping for clear skies.

Thanks for the photo! We had clouds, snow, wind and frustration at not being able to see the sky.
ReplyDeleteWe are so familiar with that frustration too Dean...and this was a really kind window, when the clouds went away for about an hour.
Deleteheres hoping for no low cloud, thanks for the headsup!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne.....it was spectacular...although they were quite a bit further apart than we had expected! I hope you got to see them too :~)
DeleteI was mesmerized at the tiny sliver of a moon the other night, no matter how many times I look at the heavenly bodies, I am continually amazed! Wonder if I'll look out for the moon and venus... thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteMe too Valerianna....they leave me without words most of the time, but filled to overflowing with feeling.
Delete'found' you via Jude, how brave you are in sharing so much of your personal life.
ReplyDeleteHi saskia, and thank you for visiting. It's a funny thing that sharing, and I don't have a clue how to explain it!! :~))
DeleteI took this same photo! Although my crescent looks as it should, it is not a clear sharp image. Beautiful sight, eh?!!
ReplyDeleteAt least you got the right shape Nancy :~) Wasn't it wonderful. Did you see last night's show? The moon did it's orange~y hue thing as it dipped towards setting ~ oh beauty.
Deletemagic indeed...xxx
